Personalize WordPress with My Memories
A couple weeks ago, I changed my blog to a Genesis Blog, with the modern theme. I will admit that wordpress appears more complicated than it really is. And while I am still learning the ropes of wordpress, I wanted to share how I got my header and background. It is real basic at this point and something I will continue to work on. But I created both using My Memories Software.
First you will want to go to your appearance on the left side and select Background
Once you bring it up you will see a section that will allow you to choose a file. This is when you can select any background image you want for your blog. You can tile the background or make it a solid color.
Next is your header, right below the Background button is the Header section. When you open the section it will tell you the size of the header. I had selected Sugar Moon Design Tea Party elements as my header. And just as I made my Facebook Timeline, I used the same techniques to complete the header.
The size of the header needed to be 960×225. I opened My Memories Software and selected custom design, landscape and size in pixels. Then I created the design I wanted. I saved it and then uploaded it to the header section.

I have been fortunate that so many before me have taken great pains to keep names and dates of our ancestors. It has helped document and verify our line much easier. Tonight my Aunt sent to me some more documents of one of our Ancestors. A Civil War Veteran, a soldier that died during the War in TN.
Augustus “Gus” Williams
He was born in 1820 in Frederick County, Maryland, Died December 19, 1862 Camp Bulter, Memphis, Shelby Co., Tennessee during the Civil War. The cause of death was “Erysipelas”, and acute infectious disease of the skin, accompanied by inflammation and fever. He was the son of Benjamin F and Elizabeth (Simmons) Willams. He had been married twice, his first wife married December 4, 1844 in Fayette County, Illinois-Martha Jane Williams. She was born in 1827 died sometime between 1850 and 1854, their two children were John A. “Butch” and Levi Williams.
His second wife, our line was Senith(aka Cenith) Donaldson, this was her third marriage. They married on August 7, 1854 in Fayette County, Illinois. She was born February 11, 1828 and died August 17, 1908. Her parents were Barnett B. and Mary “Polly” (Andrews) Donadaldson. Their children: Charity Ann, Presley G., Ruth Jane, and Moses M. Augustus. Moses is the father of my Great Great Grandmother Mae Augusta Williams.
Now we can look for more information on his life, and time as a soldier. His uniform is a puzzle and I will have to look up what title he had as a soldier.

Pariot Ancestors
Long before my Grandma met my Grandfather, he was a US Marine during World War II. I never had met my Grandfather, however I do know that he meant a lot to my Grandma for her to keep all his photos, service papers through the years and to never remarry. Finding the perfect digital kit to highlight his dedication to our Country has been challenging. However tonight Touched by a Butterfly release a free Mini USA kit, it was perfect for what I had in mind. I was able to complete this page in a few minutes. I knew exactly the photo I wanted to share.
And find more about your Ancestors Patriot Duties through this Military Online Records webinar
