Treasury of Bible Stories by Donna Jo Napoli, illus. by Christina Balit (ages 8-12)
A worthy cultural treasury with appeal to both the faithful and irreligious.” — Kirkus

Noah’s Ark, Moses, David and Goliath, the ten plagues, Daniel and the lions’ den, Jonah and the giant fish, and many more of the Bible’s most powerful stories — 27 in all — are compellingly retold in this beautifully illustrated treasury. Readers will be fascinated by the ancient people and events they encounter, surprised by some of the lesser known accounts revealed, and inspired by the lessons these tales impart. Stories cover important ground beyond religion, such as culture, history, and geography, and they touch on issues that remain relevant today–faith, loyalty, kindness, violence, generosity, greed, jealousy, and more. These accessible, readible stories give kids a rich picture of biblical times, which encourages them to think about our role in the world and to learn more.

Napoli’s magical storytelling is sure to ignite children’s imaginations. Along with Balit’s stunning art, this is a book kids will want to explore again and again–a classic that families can read aloud together.

5,000 Awesome Facts About Everything(ages 8-12) This book is literally busting its covers with fascinating, fun-tastic facts on super, sensational topics that kids love. Who knew that there were so many sweet things to learn about chocolate or that a dozen delicious details about peanut butter would show up on a page with a few splotches of jelly to whet our appetites? Keep turning and a terrifyingly toothy shark tells you all about himself, while other spreads lay out tons of tips on toys and games, mysteries of history, robots and reptiles, sports and spies and wacky words. A visual feast of colorful photographs surrounded by swirling, tipping, expanding, and climbing bits of information in a high-energy design, this book will satisfy both the casual browser and the truly fact obsessed.

Celebrate Easter(ages 6-9) – The joyous celebration of Easter is seen through a global perspective in this National Geographic volume featuring over 25 vibrant photographs. Witness the holiest day on the Christian calendar as it is celebrated throughout the world: from the famous Easter Egg Roll at the White House to the traditional bonfires throughout Europe, to colorful customs, to the universally popular dying of eggshells worldwide.

The first-person narrative leads young readers through the origins and traditions of this springtime festival of rebirth and hope. Reverend George Handzo gives parents and teachers a historical and cultural background in his informative note.

Create A Toxin-Free Home With Grove Collaborative!

Create A Toxin-Free Home With Grove Collaborative

    jan17influencer_toxinfreewithsponge_lifestyle1

I like to know what’s in the products I use in my home — especially since my son is at that age where he likes to put everything in his mouth! In addition to choosing natural household products, making my own cleaning supplies is a surprisingly effective, affordable way to get our home sparkling without harsh chemicals.

This year, why not create your own toxin-free cleaning kit? Start by grabbing this free cleaning caddy + glass spray bottle + orange oil + scrubber sponges [insert your referral link] from Grove Collaborative! Then use my DIY cleaning recipes to rid your home of toxins and leave it smelling fresh:

    • Scented vinegar: Almost every natural cleaning recipe calls for vinegar — but it can be stinky! I like to add a few drops of orange essential oil to 1 cup of vinegar. Citrus oils are especially good at neutralizing the vinegar smell. You can use the scented vinegar in any recipe that calls for regular vinegar.

    • Glass cleaner: I’ve experimented with lots of homemade glass cleaner recipes, and this is the one I keep coming back to. Combine 2 cups of water, 1 tablespoon of vinegar, 1 tablespoon of rubbing alcohol, and 1 drop of dish soap in the Grove glass spray bottle. Spray this directly on your mirror or on a microfiber cloth (a little goes a long way!).

    • All purpose cleaner: This cleaner works wonders for cleaning a grimy stovetop or sticky fridge fingerprints. Combine 2 cups of water, 2 tablespoons of liquid castile soap, and 10-20 drops of essential oil to a spray bottle and shake well. For tough messes, I spray it on, wait 5 minutes, and scrub with the Grove walnut scrubber sponge.

    • Linen spray: Linen sprays always feel so luxurious, but scented products can be full of irritating chemicals. I make my own with essential oils. Combine 1 ½ cups of water, ¼ cup of rubbing alcohol or vodka, and 30 drops of essential oil in the Grove glass spray bottle. Orange oil is a great uplifting scent for the new year!

I have several of these Grove Collaborative glass spray bottles and I love them. I prefer to store my homemade cleaning products in glass, since essential oils can break down plastic over time. I stash all my bottles and supplies in the Grove Collaborative enamel cleaning caddy. It’s one of those things I’ve always wanted but would never buy for myself. Now that I have it, it’s made putting together my essential toxin-free kit a breeze!

That’s what Grove is all about: making creating a healthy, beautiful home effortless and affordable. Tell Grove what you like, and they’ll deliver a box of fabulous natural products (carbon offset) right to your doorstep, on your schedule. Each month, you’ll get an email reminding you to add any items you’re running low on to your shipment. I love that I no longer have to make mad dashes to the store for dish soap or toilet paper!

This offer ends Jan. 15 and supplies are limited, so here’s how to get yours now:

    1. Sign up for Grove Collaborative here . You will receive the Toxin Free Kit for free when you sign up! Existing customers will receive free Grove Walnut Scrubber Sponges with your next order.
    1. Answer 4 quick questions about your home that Grove Collaborative will then use to customize your first basket — this takes under 30 seconds!
    2. Once you’ve answered the questions, you can finalize your basket of products to suit your household needs by adding or removing items.
    3. To receive this offer, your order needs to be a minimum of $20. Choose the combination of products and scents you love and receive in your first box.
    4. You made it! Click Finish & Pay and place your order.

Tip to save: Once you’ve submitted your Grove order, you’ll be signed up for the free 60 day VIP trial. As a VIP, you’ll get free shipping, free gifts, price matching, exclusive sales and personal service. It’s a great way to try out Grove and discover some new products you’ll love!
