  • Cook’n Recipe Organizer Review and Giveaway

    Cook'n Recipe Organizer

If you are like  lot of cooks and myself you probably have recipes scattered all over the place in many different forms. Some may be written on note pads, cookbooks, word documents or saved on our favorite websites. I even have the many recipe books that my Grandma left me. It takes up a lot of space.  Cook’n Recipe Organizer makes it possible to store all of your recipes in one location. If you like to search the internet for new and exciting recipes like I do it can pull those recipes into a cookbook within the software. No more wasting paper from printing every recipe that you want to try or hunting through the internet for favorite websites that you know you saved. This one piece of software you can store all of the recipes that you own by entering them in, add new recipes that you find on the internet, create shopping lists and meal planners.

Cook’n Recipe Organizer  software comes with thousands of ingredients built in with nutrition info; making it easy if you need to add a new ingredient just add it.  Along with the nutrition info off of the packaging and that nutrition info will be present in any recipe you add the ingredient to. Cook’n Recipe Organizer will show you the total nutrition info for the entire recipe and you can also scale recipes to adjust serving sizes. They are currently working on the function that will allow you to sync your recipes with your Apple or Android device. So if you are on your way home and need to stop by the store you can see what ingredients you need for a recipe or pick an entire recipe from your cookbook and generate a shopping list right there in the store.

I selected the Gooseberry 5 ingredients or less cookbook as my free book. Here is a screen shot of the program, it is so easy to use. We are going to try the Carnival Salad. This recipe is part of the original cookbook.

The wonderful folks from Cook’n Recipe Organizer are offering one license of the software to be given away to one of my wonderful readers. Enter using the Rafflecopter below and be sure to check out the YouTube video and their Cook’n Recipe Organizer facebook page where you will find recipe exchanges and weekly prize giveaways.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

  • Reading Kingdom Review

I am home educating my 6 and 5 year old sons who are starting Kindergarten and one preschoolers who 3 years old. Setting the foundation for strong reading skills is a top priority in my classroom. In addition to our reading curriculum, I also add supplemental resources to ensure a comprehensive reading program. My 6 year old has mild autism, and ADHD, my 5 year old picks up things much easier. A few weeks ago I was selected to review for 1 year Reading Kingdom for both sons. When selected for this review, Reading Kingdom sent special instructions for my older son. While these instructions were helpful, he really picked up on the program easier than he had other programs.

Reading Kingdom which is an online program that is designed for children ages 4-10. It was created by Dr. Marion Blank, who has drawn upon her 40 years of experience as a leading expert in literacy to develop an excellent reading program that helps children learn to read and write up to a third grade level.

I love that Reading Kingdom expands on the traditional phonics method to teach words that cannot be sounded out phonemically (the majority of words in the English language), with my 6 year old it helps his speech delays.

The program  customizes itself to the child and it adapts to their particular strengths and weaknesses. The first part of the program is an assessment/skills survey.  Right off I was pleased with the detail of the instructions that are provided. So many programs provide minimum instructions, leaving my sons frustrated and lost. Not with Reading Kingdom, they were excited to complete the levels.

The Reading Kingdom is a fun, easy-to-use online program that teaches children 4-10 years old how to read and write to a third grade level

    6 Skills

    • Most kids can use the program on their own after just a few lessons.
    • It’s fun so children think they’re playing a game and want to practice.
    • It was created by Dr. Marion Blank, Director of the Light on Learning Program at Columbia University and one of the world’s top experts in reading.
    • It works with any other curriculum a child may be using.
    • It’s the only program to offer customized online reading instruction for each child.
    • And, it’s the only system that teaches all 6 skills needed for reading & writing success!

My son reading on Reading Kingdom,

    after he completed the word.

Both of my sons enjoy this program so much that they beg for it first thing every morning.  This is great because Reading Kingdom uses a multi-faceted approach that is designed to teach an integrated reading and writing program based on word recognition, and there is support if needed. We have a year to use this program and I am loving how excited my boys are about learning to read.

Reading Kingdom is proud to be used by celebrities like Cindy Crawford with her own children. I highly recommend the Reading Kingdom online program for pre-readers, beginning readers and any child who may be struggling to read.

The Reading Kingdom is a subscription-based online reading program. To get your subscription sign up for a 30 day free trial. After you’ve created an account you can purchase a subscription. Subscriptions to Reading Kingdom are $19.99/month with no monthly minimum, or $199.99 if you purchase a 12 month subscription. If you have multiple children using the program, the cost per each additional child in your family is $9.99/month. Right now Reading Kingdom is offering a 25% discount when using code dawnsdelights

  • Learn to Read online

Reading Eggs is an Online Learn to Read Program, I started this program with my 5 year old son a couple weeks ago. It introduces children to the world of reading through interactive stories and games with fun characters.  There are activities for ages 3-7, Reading Eggs helps to spark a love for reading with everything from alphabet recognition to phonics to early reader stories.  Puzzles, games, and songs are used to capture a child’s attention and make the reading experience multi-sensory.  Reading Eggspress (another part of the Reading Eggs World) is geared for older children (7-13) to encourage fluent reading.  I was given a three-month free trial to test out Reading Eggs. My 5 year old son is really enjoying the program, and asks often to play Reading eggs.

It was developed by educational experts, and focuses on the core concepts of phonics and sight words.  Children can progress at their own pace, enjoying an individualized reading experience.  As reading “Eggsplorers,” kids work through 100 lessons, including spelling and reading comprehension.  Even more lessons are currently being developed for the older age range, as well.

Outside of being fun and educational for the kids, it allows me to track their progress and see where I need to work on more with their reading skills.
