Welcome to Subscription Spring #3 – Green Kid Crafts

Green Kid Crafts' Award Winning Craft Kit Subscriptions

I have really been looking forward reading this review of Green Kid Crafts box by Patti. As a mom who home schools some of her children and likes to live out her ‘ being a scientist’ fantasies vicariously through her kids, Green Kid Crafts ticked a lot of boxes before it even arrived.

Green Kid designs and delivers hands-on, award winning, and eco-friendly Discovery Boxes, Creativity Kits, and STEM Kits (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). In a slightly different format to some subscription services they offer more than just the monthly subscription box service:

    • Subscribe to the traditional type of service, where you will receive one box every month with:
      • 3-4 creativity & STEM Science Kits (science, technology, engineering, and math) designed by experts to build confidence, flex creativity muscles, and make kids (and parents!) smarter
      • All materials and instructions, along with some fun extras
      • An exciting new theme. Past themes include – Outer Space, Feathered Friends, Backyard Science, Ocean, and Mad Scientist.
      • Included free for subscribers (a $5.95 monthly value): Green Kid! Activity Guide – a 20+ page collection of additional activities, reading lists, games, puzzles, and more each month, all centered about the monthly theme!
    • “One Off” boxes for purchase called Discovery Boxes. They pack a lot of fun and learning into convenient, eco-friendly packages. Developed by teachers, crafty moms and STEM experts (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) to support key developmental skills for kids ages 3-10, each Discovery Box celebrates creativity with craft projects and activates thinking, questioning, inquiring, and original creation as we guide children through fun science experiments. Each Discovery Box contains 3-4 Creativity and STEM Science Kits, extension activities, and a 20+ page themed Green Kid Activity Guide. Themes currently available include – Dinosaur, World Music, Ocean, Kitchen Scientist & Garden.
    • Eco Friendly party favors. A select number of the kits from the boxes are available for individual purchase as party favors, stocking stuffers or as activities to enjoy at parties. I think they are also good to support specific learning goals in home & school. Each Birthday Activity and Party Favor comes in its own Green Kid Crafts birthday bag! A special discounted rate applies for group orders. Save 20% on orders of over 20 items with coupon code BIRTHDAY! Themes include – My Weather Station, Sailboat, Rocket Launchers, Shooting Stars and Paper Making.
    • STEM kits – STEM Science Kits make science fun and exciting for kids through hands-on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) experiments. The kits facilitate thinking, questioning, inquiring, and original creation as children are guided through the scientific inquiry and engineering design process. Themes include – Cloud Finder, Weather Station Kit & Sun Prints.

    Green Kid Crafts – Review

My intention had been to post an ‘opening the box’ video here. I was setting up the equipment, with the kids and went off to answer the ‘phone. I came back to find that, such was their excitement, they had started without me – but I went with the flow! So here is the slightly badly focused, raw reaction of our 6 & 7 year olds opening the box!

As you can see they were very pleased with what they found in the Kitchen Science Discovery Box and you can read the full review of the box here.

    Paper Culture Baby Announcement Review

A few weeks ago I was given the opportunity to review for free Paper Culture Baby Announcements. My kids are older now, way past the baby stages. We didn’t have the time to create baby announcements when they were born. I had our youngest 3 kids within 3 years, from 2006 to 2009 and we did a PCS move for the Air Force during that time. Baby Announcements was far from our priorities during that time. If I had known how easy creating beautiful Baby Announcements were I would have done this a long time ago. I love looking through old baby announcements that my Great Grandma made for my Grandma as a baby. There are many colorful designs to choose from, and the steps are easy to work with. Just select the design you want, upload your photo, and enter the text about your little one. They give many options, simple ones and areas on the announcements for you to add poems or more details. I was given the opportunity to make two sets of cards, one for my now 5 year old and one for my now 3 year old daughter. Paper Culture sent me the proofs via email to make sure that everything I created was the way I wanted them. They arrived within a few days after I approved the final draft. I was impressed by the quality, they are not thin cards, but quality thick paper and the announcements are amazing.

Beyond its focus on modern design, Paper Culture makes a tangible commitment to the environment

    – Paper Culture plants a tree with EVERY order (planted over 300,000 trees to date)- we dedicated one for my Grandma Ola.

    – Cards and envelopes are made from 100% post consumer recycled paper (so no new trees are cut down to produce your cards or envelopes)

    – Paper Culture offsets it’s entire carbon footprint

It’s also the service that make Paper Culture unique

    – Paper Culture uses 130 lb, 17 pt paper (compare that with most other providers who use 110lb paper that is about 13-15 pt thick)

    – Paper Culture has a FREE Mailing & Addressing service called Mail & Message where it will stamp, address and mail your cards for FREE. You pay only the actual cost of the stamp. There’s no other major service that has this free option.

    – All of Paper Culture’s cards and address labels feature free rounded corners

    – 1000’s of designs available on the site, all with a distinctive modern aesthetic

    – Everything is backed by a 100% Customer Satisfaction Guarantee

Look who else is talking about Paper Culture

    –       Paper Culture has been featured in publications like Real Simple, People, Martha Stewart, the Wall Street Journal, Parenting and dozens of others.

    –       Paper Culture has been used by celebrities such as Jewel, Toby Maguire, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Kerri Walsh, etc.

I am so satisfied with these cards that I will be buying some for my older two children and using these in our family scrapbook.

I think this is a fabulous idea for family time together and to make Mother’s Day a little more memorable! One of my favorite games I received was the Mother’s Day Tidy up Scavenger Hunt! Helping mom do the chores that she does 24/7 every other day of the year. In the game it includes cards that you cut out and your family can either race around trying to get done first or they can work together as a family to get it done (I like that idea better)! Mom gets a clean house and you can pick up a small prize for the kids just to help with the motivation.

Another one that I really am excited about is the Mother’s Day Keepsake. It downloads in adobe and you can either print it off and fill it out or it even gives an option to let the kids type out their answers on the computer. It includes questions like this…..

    • My mom looks prettiest when she wears_____________.
    • When my mom was young I think she_____________.
    • When I am sad I like when my mom _____________.

These are just a few of what is on the list. It also includes a second sheet that gives a space for your child to draw a picture of what they would buy you if they had all the money in the world. These are just two of the twenty games you receive with this product! We have had a blast reviewing these games and I am saving them to take to my mom’s house in May.

They offer tons of other printables including Birthday party games, Baby shower games, picnic games, camping games, and many more. The list goes on and on. I hope you enjoy this product as much as I have!

You can find more about them on Twitter and Facebook. And as a thank you to my readers they are offering a 25% Off Coupon Code DAWNSDELIGHTS25 good through May 9, since this is an ebook, you will receive these fun games in time for Mother’s Day.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
