I love my little flip pal, it is tiny enough to go with me anywhere and yet powerful enough to capture the beauty of the photos I scan. I keep it near my laptop at all times, as a busy mom of 4 kids, working from home and homeschooling, this gadget has really been a plus. Takes less than a minute to scan any picture, and have on my laptop for the my Genealogy Project. I scanned this photo of my Grandparents at my Great Grandparents house around 1949 last fall while I was visiting my Aunt. The photo is 63 years old, my Aunt is the adorable baby in this photo. The scan was great, but the photo had been damaged a lot. After using Photo Elements 10 I was able to clear it up a lot to see the faces and even photos in the background. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend and Black Friday. One thing I absolutely love about this time of year is all the photos I capture of my family, and the photo printing deals make it a wonderful way to preserve those photos. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. My favorite scanner is honoring the cause with a lovely pink bag and cover with the Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon. Last week I received Beautiful Beasties: A Creative Guide to Modern Pet Photography book to review and giveaway. I was very excited to receive this book and was far from disappointed. It combined two of my favorite things, photography and pets. I have always had pets, or as I call them my fur babies. For our family they are part of the family and spoiled just as much. Taking photos of animals can be tricky at times, wrong lighting, moving around, and the fact that sometimes they just don’t want to be photographed and would rather play.
I really enjoyed the illustrations and instructions in this book. Lots of details and suggestions on getting the perfect photo. Which helped me finally after a year get the perfect photo of our newest family member, Morticia. The first kitty that our kids actually made up a song for. She is a calico with a nearly solid black face. The photos always turned out blurry and horrible.

I have only had the book a week and feel a lot more confident about getting the perfect photo of our fur babies. It is a 335 page book with tons of links, resources, instructions and tips to help you capture those wonderful moments with your pet. The book even goes one more step in helping you with the basics if you want to take your pet photography hobby to a professional level.

As a busy mom to 4 kids, business owner and all the other hats I wear throughout the day. Getting a spare moment to scrap can be challenging some days. This is why I LOVE My Memories Software so much. I was able to catch up on replies and make my husbands lunch for tomorrow and put together a cute little 4 page scrapbook. I used templates and old photos I had already edited a while back. I love that later I can go back into this album and change it up, make it into a movie, have it printed, add more pages, or send it to family via email..
