This weekend is the ICAPGen.org Genealogy Conference. ICAPGen.org is where Genealogists can obtain their Accreditation in Genealogy. There are Genealogists for Hobby, Accredited Genealogists, and Certified Genealogists. My overall goal is to become a Certified Genealogist through the Board of Certified Genealogists. When I made this decision there were three books I bought to help me along with the studying process:Becoming an Accredited Genealogist: Plus 100 Tips to Ensure Your Success, Revised Edition, The BCG Genealogical Standards Manual and Professional Genealogy: A Manual for Researchers, Writers, Editors, Lecturers, and Librarians. These books were hard to find at the library. However, most of the books you’ll need while studying are available at most libraries.

You can also take many of these classes from ICAPGen.org online free. Hope this helps some who want to learn more about the process of becoming a professional Genealogist.

Researching your family history can be challenging at times. When I first was learning to do research with my Grandma, it meant contacting record departments, and visiting libraries. Now you can connect almost instantly with relatives via the internet. Ancestry.com and other sites has made sharing information much easier. You can Try Ancestry.ca FREE for 14 days! Ancestry.ca is the Canadian resource for family history research. They have recently released their Canada Voters Lists collection this last week containing over 80 million records and by far the largest Canadian collection.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. My favorite scanner is honoring the cause with a lovely pink bag and cover with the Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon. Normally the bundle costs 176.99 and on sale for 159.29. Last November my Aunt and Cousin gave me this scanner as a Birthday/Christmas gift. I have used this scanner a lot in this past year and love it as much today as I did when I received it. It doesn’t take any more room than a book, and is easy to use. No cords to worry about, all you need is Batteries, SD card, photos to scan. This is the perfect scanner to take Scrapbook Cropping, Craft fairs, and family gatherings. This last weekend I found an old photo of my little sister and I around 1980, we were so little then and the photo is showing it’s age. Here is the scan of the photo. I will be able to now restore it in Photoshop and preserving this digital copy of a fun moment at our Grandma’s house.

This is the Bundle
