  • Green Cleaning Tips from Grove Collaborative

Here’s a common myth I hear a lot: Making the switch to green cleaning products is too expensive.

I can say from experience that creating a green cleaning kit can be easy and affordable. You don’t need a cabinet stuffed with products — in fact, I now use fewer (and better!) products.

You can get a jumpstart on your green cleaning routine by grabbing this free set of cleaning concentrates + glass spray bottle + microfibers with your first purchase of $20 from my friends at Grove Collaborative. Then come back here for my green cleaning tips:

    • I feel good about using reusable glass bottles for my favorite products and DIY recipes, knowing I’m not adding more plastic bottles to landfills. Plus, this colorful Grove spray bottle adds a dose of style to your cleaning routine! I love that they added a silicone sleeve to keep it from slipping out of your hand.
    • Concentrated products create less shipping weight and less waste. Each 1 oz. Grove concentrate creates 16 oz. of product — just dispense it into your spray bottle, add water and start cleaning.
    • I switched from paper towels to microfiber cloths for cleaning a few months ago, and I’ve never looked back. You can throw them in the washing machine when you’re done, and they’ll last for years!
    • The all-purpose cleaner can replace a shelf full of products. Grove all-purpose concentrate works on countertops, appliances, sinks, backsplashes and more.
    • Did you know glass cleaner can do more than windows? Use your Grove glass cleaner concentrate to get the grime off windowsills, clean dusty light fixtures, and shine up your wedding ring.
    • Choose a bathroom cleaner that does double-duty. I keep a bottle of Grove tub & tile concentrate under my sink, and it’s the only product I need to clean the whole bathroom.
    • Curate your cleaning kit by choosing gorgeous products in complementary scents. These Grove concentrates come in a heavenly orange & rosemary scent that works in any room.
    • I’ve found that purchasing products from Grove Collaborative not only saves me time, it’s also more affordable than picking up products at the grocery store. Grove hand-selects the best natural products and delivers them (carbon offset) right to my doorstep, on my schedule.

New customers get the concentrates set and existing customers get the walnut scrubber sponges.

Bonus tip: Once you’ve submitted your Grove order, you’ll be signed up for the free 60 day VIP trial. For 60 days, you’ll save even more with free shipping, free gifts, price matching, exclusive sales and personal service.

How I Get the Kids to Help Clean with Method + Grove Collaborative

Our last day of  virtual school was last week. That means the cries of “I’m booooored!” will be starting soon. Of course I want to keep my kids moving, learning, and exploring this summer, but I also need to get things done like cooking and housework. That’s why I’ve been devising fun ways to get the kids involved in cleaning. Start by grabbing this FREE set of Method hand soap + dish soap + multi-surface spray + Grove Collaborative walnut scrubber sponges from Grove Collaborative. If you’re already a Grove customer, don’t worry they have something for you too — free Grove walnut scrubber sponges (I love these!). Then meet me back here for tricks to get the kids to help pitch in (and actually enjoy it!).

    • Choose products that are safe for kids to use. It goes without saying that I don’t want my kids around anything that could make them sick. I love Method because if there’s a chance an ingredient isn’t safe, they won’t use it. Method’s products are made from natural ingredients, but they’re still as strong as Superman.

    • Bright colors make cleaning more fun. The vibrant pinks, purples, yellows, and greens of Method’s products remind me of a box of popsicles. If you have little ones, you could even practice color names to make cleanup a learning opportunity.

    • Everyone loves bubbles. Method’s candy-colored hand soap is perfect for the kids’ bathroom. The pump is easy to use and my kids love how lathery it is — maybe a little too much! Sometimes I catch them having a bubble party in the sink, but let’s be honest, I’m just happy they’re washing their hands.

    • Give them their own cleaning kit. Having their own supplies makes little ones feel grown up. We picked out goodies from Grove like rubber gloves, a scrub brush, and a cleaning caddy. I showed them how to use each tool, and added multipurpose cleaning supplies like Method multi-surface spray to cut down on confusion. (Of course, my kids got really into decorating their cleaning caddies with stickers).

    • Kids love scented stuff — especially if they get to choose the scent. My kids loved picking out the scents for this Method Essentials Kit and were excited to make the house smell good. When you grab your free kit from Grove Collaborative, you can choose from cucumber, honeycrisp apple, lime and sea salt, lavender, pink grapefruit, sea minerals, sweet water, or waterfall scent.

    • Make chores a competitive sport. Sometimes the lazy days of summer leave everyone feeling sluggish (myself included). That’s when I challenge my kids to a kids vs. mom chore competition. Whoever is first to get their chores done well wins.

    • Help them take ownership. It’s not always easy to motivate the kids to help with dish duty. However, my kids are more apt to help clean up if they also helped cook since it’s “their dinner”. Plus, I enjoy having a tiny sidekick to measure, pour, and stir. Method dish soap and Grove Collaborative walnut scrubbers help little hands tackle big messes.

My kids look forward to receiving our Grove Collaborative order each month. They get so excited when they see the Grove box sitting on our porch! I get excited too because Grove ships my favorite natural products right to my doorstep on my schedule. Grab your free Method Essentials Kit and give Grove Collaborative a try this summer! You’ll also get a free 60 day VIP trial, which means free shipping, free gifts, price-matching, and exclusive service.

  • My Kitchen Cleaning Routine + Free Kitchen Essentials from Grove Collaborative!

My Kitchen Cleaning Routine + Free Kitchen Essentials from Grove Collaborative!

    post-2

I used to believe there were two kinds of people: the ones who always have clean kitchens, and the rest of us. You know the people who always seem to have sparkling countertops and no dishes piled up in the sink? My grandma always had a clean sink, it was top priority and I struggle to do that with a large family. I can proudly say that I’m one of those people now (well, most days) thanks to Grove Collaborative and few helpful habits I’ve picked up.

By making these steps a part of my daily routine, my kitchen stays clean with minimal effort. And right now, when you sign up for Grove Collaborative, you can get this FREE kitchen essentials kit including Mrs. Meyer’s hand soap + dish soap, Grove Collaborative kitchen towel, Grove Collaborative walnut scrubber sponges, free shipping + free 60 day VIP trial.

Here’s what my daily routine looks like in action:

Keep countertops clear: Clutter loves company. There are five of us living here and being a home school, work from home family, the clutter can multiply fast. If I set my purse down on the counter, the mail and my kids’ stuff quickly join the party. That’s why I’ve practicing  a “nothing-on-the-counters” rule in my house.

Wipe everything down: With the countertops clear, I’m much more likely to wipe everything down instead of ignoring the crumbs in the corner. This walnut scrubber sponge from Grove is perfect for wiping up water, spills, sticky spots — you name it. Every time I cook, I grab my walnut scrubber and give the stove, sink, and countertops a quick wipe with the soft side. The scour side (yes, made from crushed walnuts!) is non-abrasive and tough on burnt-on messes. Once you see how shiny and fresh your kitchen looks, you’ll be motivated to keep it clean!

Empty the dishwasher & put dishes away: Every morning while I’m making coffee, I empty the dishwasher. We’ve (mostly) trained ourselves to put glasses straight in the dishwasher instead of letting them pile up in the sink. I usually take an extra second to dry hand-washed items with my Grove kitchen towel. It looks so much nicer than leaving them sitting in the drying rack! Fortunately this towel is super absorbent, so I can get through an entire meal’s worth of pots and pans without having to switch towels!

Use beautiful cleaning supplies: I know it sounds silly, but I’m way more motivated to clean and do dishes if I have nice supplies that I look forward to using. For example, Mrs. Meyer’s hand soaps and dish soaps are made with essential oils and plant-derived ingredients, so they smell amazing and don’t irritate my skin. Plus, the matching set looks so nice sitting next to my sink!

Now that these steps are part of my everyday routine, it only takes a few minutes and saves me tons of time in the long run — promise! Here’s a way to save even more time creating a beautiful home: Sign up for Grove Collaborative. They’ve got you covered for all your kitchen and home essentials.
