Ancestry.com DNA Kit
Your DNA has a story: It’s time to discover it at Ancestry.com!
Have you ever wondered where your family is from? I know that with our family some say that we are part Scottish, while others say that we have Irish in us. And then there is the rumor from some in the family that our family has Cherokee. Now with the Ancestry.com DNA kit we can get some real answers. I do know that my father’s side was from Germany, and most of my mothers side had migrated from Scotland and settled in New York as Quakers. Finding out more is going to be a lot of fun.

Who Do You Think You Are?
I just finished watching Who Do You Think You Are on TLC with Christina Applegate. As a Genealogist it was fun watching her go through the processes of researching her Grandparents. During the 40’s just at the peak of the Depression, and beginning of WWII, life was so difficult for families. Right now through September 12, you can Watch Who Do You Think You Are? On TLC Tuesdays at 9/8 Central and get 14 days FREE on Ancestry.com!
What family secrets or photos will you find? I found this photo of Mary Agnes Cunningham with her family. She is the wife of Enos Akin, Mother of Gip Akin, my Great Great Grandfather.

Ancestors that Served
This weekend we honor those that have served our Nation in the past. I have been very lucky that my family has been so good at keeping documents and photos.
To make the above layout, I used the kit Celeste at Touched by a Butterfly made, USA mini Kit
This photo is of My Grandfather Elmer “June” Joseph Tryon.

This weekend Ancestry.com is having a free weekend to research your loved ones that served. I am going to work on filling in the blanks on Herbert Vincent Nally and Civil War relatives. Who’s on your list to research?

Have you heard that Ancestry.ca is making headlines across the world with the release of it’s exciting announcement.
It seems that the recently returned astronaut Chris Hadfield isn’t the only one in his family with an desire to explore the final frontier. Ancestry.ca recently discovered that Commander Hadfield is the 6th cousin to Star Trek Into Darkness villain Benedict Cumberbatch through shared British roots.
The discovery is making headlines in news outlets across the country including in the Wall Street Journal and the Newswire. How are you distant cousins with? I am constantly finding new family information through Ancestry.
