My Memories Bookmark
When working with digital scrapbooking the opportunities are limitless. All the images can be rearranged and printed into any craft you want to create. Tonight I am going to share how to make a bookmark using the freebie design from My Memories this week.
STEPS: Open MyMemories Suite software and choose your album size (I chose 8.5 x 11 for a printable project). Add the papers and elements you wish to use to create your own printable project (I made these Bookmarks), and when you are finished, click: SHARE ALBUM ====> EXPORT PAGES and save as a .jpg! The new .jpg papers you created are now usable as stand alone printable projects to use and reuse anytime! The Freebies enclosed are just samples of the printable projects you can make! Just print, cut and use!
I used hard card stock to print out the bookmarks. I cut the bookmarks out using a paper cutter and cleaning up the edges using scissors. Using a hole puncher I was able to get place the hole needed for the ribbon.
I just added a little ribbon fringe, and voila!! What better little “extra” goodie when giving a book? These are perfect gift.
The ink in my computer is low, here is another photo of one created by the my memories team.

Countdown: 1940 US Census
With only 14 days left until the official launch of the 1940’s US Census Project– are you ready? I know that many in my Genealogy Groups on Cafemom are getting excited. Here is the best resources to get more information on the 1940 US Census Project site. Here are the steps to enter this week’s contest and reward yourself for getting ready!

- To qualify for this week’s drawing, download the indexing software.
- Finish a 1940 U.S. Census simulation batch before 11:59pm MT March 30, 2012.
- Finish a practice batch, just launch the indexing application from your desktop a download from Family Search.org. Click “Download Batch” and look for *SIMULATION* 1940 U.S. Census.
That’s all you need to do and if you’ve had the opportunity to have already finished a 1940 simulation batch in the past 60 days you already qualify for the contest. Next you will have to do is opt in using the form on the Games and Prizes page to be eligible to win this week’s prize.

Here are some interesting facts about my family. In 1940 my Grandma was 14 and had grown up during the Great Depression. My Great Grandparents moved a lot between New Mexico and Nevada City, California. It will be exciting to see where they lived in 1940, I will be able to place photos with more actuate places than we have been guessing.

Trace your Irish Roots.
March is known for green clover’s, the Luck of the Irish, and celebrating Saint Patrick’s lifelong contributions to Ireland. It was no wonder that Family Tree Magazine would have a special on their Kit of the Month- Irish Ancestry
As a young girl my Uncle had joined the Little Brothers of Good Shepard. The Founder Brother Mathias Barrett had traveled from Ireland as a young man, joined the Catholic Church, helped so many and was born on March 17, 1900. While my Uncle was study When I received my First Holy Communion, he gave up his seat so that I wouldn’t have to kneel the entire ceremony. Later that day, he gave my family a photograph of him before he had left Ireland. The stories were so fascinating to me. We had family ancestors who had migrated from Ireland in the late 19th Century and the way he shared memories of his life made me feel closer to my ancestors.
